Goodreads asked Barrie Doyle:

How do you get inspired to write?

Barrie Doyle My books are modern day thrillers with a historical twist. The twist is often based on legends--particularly the legends of Wales. So exploring a legend, asking how accurate it is and asking "what if" the legend were indeed true. If so, what kind of impact might it have on today's society? That gives me the genesis of a story. For example, my first book looked at the legend of King Arthur and his sword Excalibur; the second looked at the Holy Lance legend, and my latest explores the legend of Prince Madoc who landed in Mobile Bay some 300 years before Columbus, and who disappeared into the American interior leaving a trail of legends about Welsh-speaking native tribes. Once I have the legend, the 'what-ifs' take over!
