A man after my own heart (a lover of baseball and fly fishing)... excellent. Anyway, I've recently released my first book (I'm an independent author / publisher), and I'm trying to figure out how to use Goodreads to get the word out about it. It's a fly fishing book (the format is the same one used by a mutual favorite author of ours (John Gierach)), making it a niche market if there ever was one. Any advice?

Mike Reuther I wish I could be more help on this one. You can spend a lot of money on marketing, I guess, and sell some books. I use different free social media sites - facebook, twitter - with very limited success to promote my books. I'm still hoping that I stumble into something that makes one of my books really get noticed to allow it to sell a lot of copies at which point I retire to that tropical island. Sorry, I can't be more help. There are so many authors out there competing for a piece of the big pie. At any rate, I will have to check out your book.
