I'd say it's a cross between adult and YA. It's got a lot of the theme elements from YA, but it also features older characters that wouldn't fit a perfect YA mold.
Let's just say I'm a HUGE reader of YA Fantasy, so it's going to heavily lean that way, but don't expect common YA romantic tropes like love triangles. I'm not romance averse and some of the books have romantic elements, but this is an action heavy series.
