Would you ever right a book that takes place in Scotland, Ireland, Italy?

Kasie West I have never been to any of those places (though I hope to change that very soon) so as of now, I probably wouldn't. I like to know a little more about a setting before I place a book there and I would feel fairly out of my element about the environment and landscape and so many things about the places you mentioned. But maybe after visiting I could set a book there. They seem like amazing places to put some characters into.

Do you ever abandon projects? This is my most Terrible Habit and something I struggle with BIG time as a writer. If you aren't a project abandon-er, how do you continue a WIP when you get that "this-sucks-and-I-would-rather-eat-a-bucket-of-live-scorpions-than-continue-writing-this-drivel"? Especially for someone like me, who doesn't have to write under duress--aka, no deadline, no agent breathing down my neck... ;)
