Hi Joy! 'Beware the Past' is one of the best crime thrillers I've ever read. I loved it so much. I’ve now started with the DI Nikki Galena series. As someone who religiously takes notes while reading detective novels, I noticed that there is a character called Rory Wilkinson who appears as the medical examiner in both books. Do all your books take place in a shared universe (like the MCU!)? Will there be crossovers?
Joy Ellis
Hi Adarsh First, thank you so much for such a wonderful compliment! Yes, all of my books are located within the area covered by the Fenland Constabulary. Each series or stand alone book is set within a different division but shares the pathologist, Force Medical Officer , CSIs and psychologist. Sometimes there are mentions and crossovers of characters from other books and I think this gives the reader a good sense of place. For instance, there is a one-off stand alone book called Guide Star that deals with the shooting of a detective and her fight back to health and sanity. Her detective partner went off the rails and wanted to resign, but I moved him to a new division, and he became a permanent character in the Jackman and Evans series. Hope this helps. Kindest regards, Joy

Joy Ellis:
I just recently discovered your DI Jackman/DS Evans series and I am hooked. Out of all the characters, DS Evans intrigues me the most. She seems to embody an ideal in the novels. I don't mean she is not a believable character, but more like she is the conduit for much of the message in your stories. Did you create her by mixing more than one person/-nality into one or is she a pure product of your imagination?

Thank you for releasing your stories 'from the attic'! I really enjoyed them and they have helped me to understand why I love your books so much. It's the characters! It's clear that you were talented from the very beginning. I'm looking forward to future books, from all of your many great characters. Will there be a new one soon?
