Hi Laura! I'm a huge fan of your new series involving the horseman of the apocalypse; I've enjoyed your other books, too, but Pestilence was one of the best written books I've read in a while. You truly shined as a writer. It was incredible and left me breathlessly inspired. So, my question is, what modern writers inspire you? What books have inspired you?
Laura Thalassa
Awww, thanks for the book love and the incredibly kind compliment! To answer your question, soooooo many authors inspire me I couldn't even begin to list them all off for you--movies and shows inspire me too, as do songs.
That doesn't really answer the question, does it? It's a hard one to answer because I don't necessarily try to emulate the modern writers whose books I love to read (though great novels definitely get me excited about my own writing!). When I sit down to write a book, I really try to shut out the world and write books for me, and that almost requires me to not focus on those authors whose works I find great and to instead try to do my own thing. Otherwise I'm just regurgitating great literature that doesn't need to be improved upon.
But to try to list off books that absolutely took my breath away--The Daughter of Smoke and Bone, The Land of the Beautiful Dead, Kresley Cole anything, and oh man, I'm missing so many. You can check out my "favorites" folder--that will be jam packed with books that have shaped my reading tastes or pulled me out of a book slump. But yeah, for the writing, I try to march to the beat of my own drum!

I bought your book The vanishing girl and volume two called The decaying empire. I have questions for you regarding this book. Here they are: 1-Are there other volumes that follow these two books? 2-If so, how many volumes will there be in total following these two books? Thank you! Gabrielle (a great reader)

Hi Laura, love all your books! I think my favorite are The Fallen World books. I just wanted to ask whatever happened to The Sun God’s Wives? I think that was the title I remember seeing a while back as a secret project. I read the teaser you posted and was so desperate to read more.
