How much of a Historian are you in Contemporary Time? The things I so enjoy about your books (and yes, I've finished thru #9 though I'm starting into the short stories) is your very-Terry-Pratchett-ish writing style, and reading the "briefings" for each Historical Exploration. Who does your research? Thank you for St.Mary's.
Jodi Taylor
Hi. I do my own research. Masses of it and sadly, most of it is never used. I once spent two days reading up on the War of Jenkins's Ear and I think it was about two lines in the book. I'm not much interested in contemporary time - it's a bit of a struggle to get up in the morning for anything after 1485! Thanks for enjoying the books. Jodi.

Hi Jodie, Not a question as such more an idea, sure its probably been mentioned before. With so many short stories in the series which fit in various different points with the main books, do you think it would be possible for one big book with all 'books' in their chronological order? Or is that a crazy idea, although St Mary's are the kings and queens of crazy ideas so maybe its fitting!

We learn in one of the short stories that Alt!Leon met Alt!Max in the same way that Prime!Leon met Prime!Max. BUT in the Prime timeline, Leon was already dead when Max got stranded and her encounter with younger him progressed as it did partly for that reason. Do you have a head canon for what the differences were in the alternate timeline? (A Second Chance makes me so sad I rarely reread it except for THAT chapter!)

Having just been re-reading Josephine Tey's excellent The Daughter of Time, imagine my surprise when I saw mention of a Markham who wrote a history of Richard the Third in the nineteenth century. Is that where you got the name for your character? (Given, you know, the connection.)
