Hi, Lisa - Our book group is having a Pu'er tea tasting Mon., Nov. 5, for our discussion of "The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane," which is my personal favorite (with "Snow Flower" a very close second). What's your favorite kind of tea? I'd love to surprise our group with a tasting of what you yourself enjoy. Thank you for so many fascinating glimpses of a fascinating culture. Linda L.

I get my tea from Linda Louie, the owner of Bana Tea Company. I traveled to the tea mountains with her. She's an expert on Pu'er. She's now put together a tea-tasting package for book clubs who are reading The Tea Girl. Here's the link:

Dear Lisa, I have just finished "The Island of Sea Women", and doubt the vivid images of these women and their culture will ever fade. I have written a book about women in Mani. It is about their lives and work, their remarkable history, and how they accepted me into their midst as a young woman. Would you be able to look at it and give me advice? Thank you so much for this story, in my opinion, your masterpiece thus far. Your characters through their Chinese story told the mother-daughter story in a new, rich, multi-perspective way. I felt their joy, anger, fear and longing. I was forced to take moments to consider me through my daughters' eyes.?
