Was curious how you feel about there now being another book on the same subject (i.e., 'Swansong' by Kelleigh Greenberg-Jephcott). Have you - or WILL you - read it? I LOVED your version, but bought a copy of the new book to compare...
Melanie Benjamin
I saw this book when I was in England in August. Since this is only available in the UK (it is on Amazon, but it's not available for Prime and won't be available in bookstores here), and not in the United States, I guess I don't really think about it. My book was not published in a UK version, so there really is no competition. I haven't read it, no, nor do I plan to. Subjects - particularly when they're real people or real experiences - aren't copyrighted, so there's nothing I can do about it. So glad you enjoyed SWANS!

I loved your novel The Children's Blizzard. Thanks so much for writing such a gripping read! I have reviewed it here and also on my book review blog - thecozybookblog.com. Any other novels coming out soon? I'd love to check them out as I completely enjoy your writing style. Thanks! :) Best, Diane-Lyn

Melanie, I loved The Swans of Fifth Avenue and reviewed it here. Such fascinating insights into Truman Capote and his "swans". I also publish my reviews on my blog, No Shortage of Words...so it's there too. Looking forward to reading more of your work. I read somewhere that greatest pleasure for you is when your books inspire readers to learn more about people you wrote about. That is exactly my definition of a good book!? - when it makes me want to learn more about people, culture and time period I read about. "The Aviator's Wife" did that to me. I enjoyed every page.
