We were SO LOOKING FORWARD to Broken Girls...love your books b/c they are great stories w/o language. I got to p. 12 and was surprised to see the "f-word". Oh my. Now my daughter will refuse to read it, especially knowing this occurs throughout the book, along with other words. Why did you go there? Your books are mesmerizing and intriguing; they carry the reader so well that language is not necessary. So bummed. :(

I've read Broken and Maddy and found them to be highly enjoyable page-turners. While I haven't read (yet) your other novels there seems to be a macabre theme to your work. Do you find that writing and researching these darker topics has a negative effect on your mental health?
