Karen Witemeyer
Hi, Kyle. I started as a reader. I would come home from the library with piles of books every week, eager to be absorbed in story. I didn't start writing my own stories (outside of English assignments) until I was out of college. I spent six years learning the craft of fiction writing through books, joining a local writers group, and entering contests. I published a handful of small fiction and non-fiction pieces in magazines and anthologies. Then I started attending national conferences where editors and agents who specialized in my genre attended. Eventually, I met an editor who was interested in my book. I submitted, was rejected, then submitted a new book and eventually earned a contract. It's a long, hard road to publication, but it's worth the effort.

Karen Witemeyer:
Hello Karen, I want to thank you profoundly for the stories you have given the world. I have enjoyed every story I've gotten my hands on, and I'm collecting them all. Each story has taught me so much about myself and life. How long does it take you to research the historical aspect for your stories? Things like locations, historical settings, technological aspects, and names that would fit your time period.

Karen Witemeyer:
I am a retired English teacher who has spent my first year of retirement reading books I want to read. I have 12 paperback books by Witemeyer, but there are 7 that I cannot find except on Kindle. I have tried Thrift books, Amazon, and Abe Books. Are there any other places that might have your books in paperback?
