To me, writing is a mode for getting ideas out into the world and into broader circulation. I'm able to bring clarity to an idea and to wrestle out the concepts with other people. Perhaps unusual for an author, I care less about the craft (which is, in part, why I don't write fiction); I care more about the dialogue that happens about the concepts.
