I got the idea for writing the "My first Emojis" series from using emojis to communicate in text messages on my iPhone. I am a very analytical person who likes to know the meaning and use of emojis in the correct context (i.e., emojis that do not pop up when you type a word) and found the Emojipedia on the internet. I began to learn about meaning for each emoji. Emojis are such a fun, new way to communicate and thought how fun it would be for kids to learn to read as I like to say "emoji style".
