I just finished love, life, and the list and I was wondering why Cooper took so long to be with Abby. I understand he told her he was trying to push it away but how could he be with Iris then?

*Spoiler alert* So he had been best friends with Abby for so long that he didn't want anything to ruin that. He wasn't best friends with Iris. It was easy for him to like her because he wasn't worried about any fall out if something went wrong. It was a relationship that he could afford to lose if it didn't work out. He felt like he couldn't afford to lose his friendship with Abby if a relationship didn't work out.
