Robb Manary asked Julia Sykes:

How long does it take you to write a book? And have you gotten faster or slower as your book list has grown?

Julia Sykes Hi! If I'm in the zone, I can finish a 65,000 word book in about a month. If the book is significantly longer, it'll take maybe a month and a half. Then I have to get feedback from beta readers and my editor, so usually it'll be a month and a half to two months between each book, if I don't take much time off from writing (which I rarely do, because I love it!).

I would say my pace is about the same as it was when I started writing. On the one hand, I can write faster now because I'm accustomed to the discipline, but on the other, I'm much more aware of challenging myself to evolve stylistically with each book, so that attention to detail slows the process. I think it all evens out.

Thanks so much for your interest in my work!

Much Love,
Julia xxx
