The idea for "Why We Left" came suddenly and unexpectedly. I was looking through my bookshelves for something to re-read, and pulled out an anthology of women authors called "The Writer On Her Work," edite4d by Janet Sternburg. As I sat paging through the book, deciding if I wanted to read it again, I had one of those "Aha!" moments - and "Why We Left" was born. In the course of the 13 years I've lived in Mexico, I've met so many people who've also moved here, and we all have vastly different reasons and parameters for why and how we 're doing what we're doing. I figured if that was interesting to me, it was probably interesting to others, both folks who wanted to move to Mexico, and those who had.
