Hi! I've read a number of your books, getting hooked on them starting with daughter of the Forest. Some of the books have pronunciation guides to the Gaelic names, and some don't, and I am currently stumbling with some of the names in the Dark Mirror. Is there someplace I might be able to look up a list for the pronunciation of names as a group? Otherwise I will just keep plugging away at it with google to help ;)

Hi Mary,
Very good question. I don't have a full pronunciation guide on my website because with 20 books out there it would get unwieldy. Many of the names in the Bridei Chronicles are Pictish-derived rather than Gaelic, and some of them are reconstructed (by me) based on the main principles of the language group that Pictish belonged to. If there are any particular names giving you trouble you could send me a list (email might be best, I am reachable at juliet@julietmarillier.com) and I can do my best to help.
To start with:
Bridei BRID-eh brid rhymes with bid
Broichan BROY-khan (kh as in Scottish loch)
Tuala TOO-a-la

Hello Juliet. I consider you a gifted woman. I was not a fan of the fantasy genre until someone recommended me to try to read the world of Sevenwaters. And so I did and how glad I am! You are a magnificent storyteller with an extraordinary imagination. Does anyone ever approached you with the idea of turning one of your stories into a movie? It would be amazing to see your characters coming to life!
