I just finished "the island of sea woman". good book and interesting subject. Thank you for introducing Hendrick Hamel. Looking forward to read his journal. While in the subject of woman divers, I would like to read a historical novel about the Japanese pearl divers. Do you know of any good read using ama as the main topic?

I don’t have a question per se, but want to tell you how much I have enjoyed reading your books. I’ve read most of Pearl Buck’s, (and Kevin Kwan’s cheeky books) books about Asia, I found that it has such a rich, ancient culture, but not enough writers to tell the story of China’s history. Hopefully you can continue doing just that—weaving Asian culture and history into your books. ?

Dear Lisa - I have only just found the Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane. I am mesmerised. I have been fascinated with the ethnic minority groups in the Golden Triangle area since visiting N Thailand and Kunming in 1989. How did you find out so much about the Akha to write such a detailed account? Do you find that publishers are open to these stories? I find them closed minded to such a story especially in this time period
