Goodreads asked Lee Swanson:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Lee Swanson The best advice I can give is to set your stories in places you've been. Even if your plot occurs sometime in the distant past, the ground seldom changes even if the buildings and streets do. Smell the air, feel the heat (or cold) on your face, put your bare foot in the water. Even if you can't travel to the particular place you're writing about, go to someplace similar.
