Hha. No, I don't think so, unless you count "cruise ships in space" as a genre. But I've found one other book that fits that description as well (The One by Eric Klein). As for the structural side, I first encountered TV-style episodic storytelling in book form in The Beam by Sean Platt and Jonny B Truent.
