How do you get inspired to write?

Wayne Mallows For me, writing is something that I do not possess control over. I write when the feeling hits me. If I try and force it, well, it simply ends badly.
I often play out the scene or scenes in my mind for days and sometime weeks in advance of my writing it. By doing this, it is sort of like writing from a memory, those fictional events having taken on a life of their own within my mind. It is much like someone recalling last summer's vacation to a fantastic place. Those images, feelings and sensations belonging to that trip coming to life as soon as you begin to describe them to another.
