Being an artist has always been a boon to my writing. Many scenes, lines, and moments in Yellowstone: The Bears of Caldera came directly from sketches. I love the concept of in medias res drawings, vignettes that appear plucked from the middle of a story that hasn't been written. Several key scenes were born this way, when I'd draw something and think, "I need to write about this!"
