Goodreads asked Rivera Sun:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Rivera Sun I don't get writer's block. When I feel stumped, I go for a long walk and mull on the scene. If I'm feeling weary, I just ignore the manuscript for a period of time. I stop watching movies and reading books and sooner or later, boredom sends me back to the manuscript with new ideas and renewed enthusiasm.

Sometimes, writer's block is about not knowing where to go next. If that happens, I recommend stepping back and daydreaming about your scene or thinking about your plot. When it becomes clear where you want to go with the story, ground in the scene. Do a free write on what your characters sense/smell/touch/taste/hear/see. That often "unblocks" the dam that writers can feel.
