I make little notes to myself all the time and also carry a micro-cassette recorder. I transcribe the notes when I have time. That way, if I'm ever at a loss for ideas, I can refer to my notes and let them take life without my editing them. Editing material too soon can engender a psychological block in itself, so I never polish anything until I have a solid chunk of material.
