What are you currently working on?

Lacey Napiontek I just published a novel earlier this year called Relationship Status Complicated. It is a contemporary romance novel that is set in the fictional town of Briley’s point. Following the unliking pairing of celebrity musician James Trey, and small town girl Paige Finley. When I started the project, I endeavored to write the kind of story that indulged the desire to fall in love along with the characters and yet still felt good to read. It most important to me that a readers experience could resonate on a deeper level, and that my words would reaffirm that love that has the strength to surpass any obstacle. What came to life through this sweet and playful story was the feeling of simply being enough. The combination of clever word play, coupled with an enormous amount of exposed emotion is pure magic. At it's heart, this book is a good old fashioned, wholesome love story following the inspiration of some of my favorite storytellers from Nicholas Sparks to F. Scott Fitzgerald. While this story might seem to be straight fantasy as we explore the idea of dating a celebrity sans Tom cruise jumping on Oprah's couch. The magnetism begins when the fantasy converges into the reality of how a relationship deepens between two broken people once they let intimacy develop. We all must learn how to balance our adult responsibility with the insatiable need to dream. Overall Relationship status complicated attempt to humanize fame and showcase the strength it takes to love another unconditionally. I am confident that this novel will appeal to women of all ages looking to be swept up. In a post Nora Ephron world we desperately need someone who can remind us that love has the power to awaken a part of us that we didn't even know was dormant. It can challenge us, encourage us to see ourselves through the eyes of someone who accepts even the darkest parts of who we are.
