Goodreads asked Linda Collins:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Linda Collins Update: for my most recent book, a poetry collection titled Sign Language for the Death of Reason, my idea came from my first book, Loss Adjustment. I wanted to do a poetic response to it. Previously, for LA, I wrote: I was half-way through a non-residential retreat in honour of Mary, based on works by de Montfort for contemplation. I heard the voice of my late daughter, Victoria, tell me to listen to my inner voice. At the time I was reading a bit by de Montfort where he says to focus on making the most of your particular skills. Victoria's voice urged me, 'Mum, Google creating writing courses NZ''. I went home, did so, and a week later had been accepted into the MA at the International Institute of Modern Letters for a memoir about Victoria. So I didn't 'get' the idea, the idea came to me.
