I had an English teacher in high school named Mrs. Yates who encouraged me and let me into her journalism class two years early. But, I first loved writing back in elementary when we were allowed free time and one of the options was to grab a blank lined book from the bookshelf and write a story. My mom saved my first book about fear that I wrote when I was nine (I call it the baby-draft of Afraid of All the Things). :)
