Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Frances Brand Began writing Thorns when the Bosnian civil war was happening and at that point nobody seemed to take much notice. It seemed so terrible that another genocide was underway in a country just a few hours away.

The writing wasn't going well and I put it to one side until a couple of years ago. Now hindsight and subsequent events such as the trials at the Hague and the ongoing hunt for bodies have put it into better perspective and made it a more rounded novel.
