Hi Lori - I really loved the raw honesty displayed in your book. It's not often that we get such an intimate look at the humanity of the therapeutic relationship. Recently I also read Every Day Gets a Little Closer by Irvin Yalom and "Ginny Elkin". The format/premise and the course of therapy described within were quite striking to me. Just curious - what did you think of this book (if you've read it)?
Lori Gottlieb
Hi Thomson, I read that book years ago, long before becoming a therapist, and I found it so interesting. I was struck by how two people can have very different impressions of the same interaction, that what seemed meaningful or important to one person may not have seemed as significant to the other, and vice versa. I loved the honesty of both therapist and patient in those letters, and being able to witness the evolution of their relationship in all of its ups and downs. Beautiful and moving.

I loved your book!! I found myself in tears at times, and also laughing out loud. I also found gems that helped me personally (the book is dogeared in those spots!) Thank you for your candor, kindness, and self-examination. I am curious....did you ever get a diagnosis of your chronic illness? I am a Sjogren's patient and I have a feeling some of what you are experiencing is due to Sjogren's.

Hello, I read your book Maybe You Should Talk to Someone, and I thought it was amazing! I reviewed it on Goodreads, if you're interested in my thoughts on it. I related to it tremendously since I have also been struggling with numerous undiagnosed symptoms. The fatigue and pain, as well as the fear you describe when it comes to telling others, are very real to me. I wanted to know how are you feeling today?
