What drew you towards the shape shifter genre? What animal do you think you would be?

Conflict of identity is a primary draw. With the Bloodhaven series in particular, it's about trying to find a place of belonging -- not just trying to come to terms with your own identity and place in the world, but also how you identify with another and find a common bond and place in the world together, even when that world is screaming against all that is different.
Plus shifter heroes are really hot.
As for what kind of animal, yikes. It has to be a kind that drinks copious amounts of tea, which narrows down the field a lot. Actually, narrows it down to just the dormouse in Alice in Wonderland, which I suppose is okay, because it gets to nap a lot as well. A win either way.
