My inspiration stems back to a childhood passion for the 17th century. I visited Helmsley Castle in Yorkshire and in the gift shop were cards featuring images of every monarch of England and some biographical detail on the reverse. I was hooked when I saw Van Dyck's painting of Charles I at the hunt.
