I stood there neck deep near the bank of the river as I watched the snake slide from the limb just a few feet in front of me, disappearing beneath the warm, murky waters. Trying not to panic I slowly moved backward, feeling my way through the water and as I turned to step up onto the bank, something under the water bumped my leg.
