Hi!! I just finished The Cabin at the End of the World and am now a huge fan!!! I cannot wait to explore your other works! I'm just going to come out and ask; are you gay? The POV of Eric and Andrew were so well done, I'm curious to know where you got the insight to write about them!
Paul Tremblay
Hi, Brian. Thank you very much for the read and kind words. I'm honored. I am not gay. I hope this doesn't sound corny or foolish but I have a gay cousin and aunt, both of whom I'm very close to and have always been big parts of my life. Michael and Mary and their husband and wife were my readers when I first started writing more than twenty years ago. Their support, love, and input was and is invaluable. With this being my 7th novel, that felt like an important milestone number to me, and part of the book was me trying to honor them.
My hope when writing characters with whom I do not share life experience is that if I approach them with empathy and if I do a good enough job, I leave enough space for the reader to bring their own experience to the reading too? If that blather makes any sense.

Damn It Paul!!!!! I want to throw your new book against the wall. Then pick it up and read it again and again and then stomp on it and damn it you are the master of twists and turns and human psyche. You are my new hero-slash-go to guilty pleasure. So PLEASE CAN YOU write more NOW?? So I can read your wonderful deep and torturously brilliant books. I am going back to read Head Full of Ghosts and maybe re-read it.

Not a question, but mad props! I loved the book, and read it as an ARC. But I just read an article in which Stephen King refers to 11 of the books he found "scariest", and Head Full Of Ghosts topped the list! I was so happy for you, and "Ghosts", I almost started crying!!!!! Halloween is coming. Can we have more scary and twisted please? Congratulations!!!
