Don't give up and don't discount indie publishing. It's easier than ever to get published right now, that doesn't mean you'll sell millions of copies of your first book, but it's so much more accessible especially for anyone attempting to publish who doesn't have access to lots of money to publish. I publish through Amazon for free, but there are others out there as well.
