How do you get inspired to write?

Richard A. Lester I spend long periods of time collecting various items in my head (or on scrap paper.) Sometimes it's images, sometimes phrases. Really, anything that I find interesting ends up in the pot. I stir them all around until something pulls it together in a meaningful story. I never really know when it will happen. Once I'm in the writing process, I stay on it until I'm done. That's all about planning and routine, rather than waiting for inspiration.
