Oh, my gosh. I only just saw this -- 39 days after you wrote your question. My mom absolutely inspired me to become a writer. She was not only a reviewer, but she also wrote about a dozen books.

Hi Lisa! I just wanted to say thank you for writing "The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane." It's one of my favorite books -- the ending was absolutely beautiful and made me cry. As a Chinese-American myself, Li-yan's story really touched me on a personal level and made me think about my relationship with my family. As a lifelong student of Eastern spirituality, I relished the accuracy of your character's personalities in relation to their Chinese zodiac signs.(I'm fire rabbit and a painter, so Z.G. is very close to my heart!) I'm wondering if you value Chinese astrology primarily as a literary tool or if you find the zodiac to reflect authentically in your own life and relationships? Do you identify with your native animal?
