Michael J. Sullivan Hey Ana, This is a question I get asked often. Going from book to television/movies is not an easy process, as you might imagine. There are several steps along the way and the first one is having the intellectual property "optioned" - which means someone has enough interest in the books to put up some money and reserve the rights to do the adaptation. Both of my series (Legends of the First Empire and the Riyria books) have been optioned. I've even seen an initial screenplay. But the chasm between "optioned" and "start of filming" is enormous and few projects ever make that jump. Still, we are pleased with the executive producer wo has optioned the rights and we'll wait to see what hapepens.

I know this is going to be an off-the-wall question, but why don't writers have their characters poop or pee? Brandon Sanderson, in one of his recent novels has the character Wayne use the "crapper", and has Wayne even ponder all the names that people have for the "crapper." I thought, "Wow, that's the first time I've read something like that."
