My first book was actually inspired by a song, "The Hills," by The Weeknd. It's a crude look at the sexual habits of a famous person (at least that's how I interpreted it) and it got me thinking. "What would this person be like? What could redeem him or get him to change his ways?" Those thoughts and questions led me to create Zen. Once he was pretty solid in my mind, I needed a heroine for him that was both weak and strong in her own way. He needed to feel both cared for by someone outside of his cynical and jaded world, and that he was needed by that same person. Kennedy was born to be his perfect match.
