Goodreads asked Vic Zarley:

How do you get inspired to write?

Vic Zarley I was in grade school when I wrote my first poem. It came to me so fast, I could barely write it down. I still remember it:

I like to read
It's like planting a seed
To your life ahead
Make use of it, I beg

Only read the good books
The books that make you learn
Don't read the bad books,
They'll make you toss and turn

But if you like to read bad books
That's your decision, not mine
I'm only trying to tell you
Good books are divine

It was published in my school newspaper and I could truthfully say that I had the bug to be a writer from that point onward.
