The character usually inspires me. A character comes into my mind. I write one or two pages about her or about him.
Then I wonder: Now my character has got this life I just wrote about. What could possibly happen to him? To her? What's in their past that they don't want to remember? What is their more cherished dream? or...What are they facing at the moment that they don't like, or what scares them? Generally the story starts this way.
