Goodreads asked D.R. Johnson:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

D.R. Johnson If you want to be writer, you have to write. All the scary stuff like editing, revising, rewriting, query letters (or self-publishing) come after that. If you're worrying about all those things, you'll never get started. They may seem overwhelming because they are.

Focus on taking one step at a time. Get that first draft written and only worry about the story. Should it be first person? Third person? How many POV's should I have? Don't worry about it. Just write it. All of that can be worked out in the editing/revision process.
