Hi Jodi. Quite often, Max will return to St. Mary's (from some point in history), seriously injured and/or exhausted. They then turn around immediately to go back and rescue their fellow team members back from when they came without fully recuperating. Why don't they take the time to get better before they return? Surely they can wait a few days to fix themselves up before returning to exactly the same point in time.

Jodi Taylor Hi. You're absolutely right. It would be sensible to wait, heal and then go off and rescue them. Sadly, that doesn't always make for the most dramatic storyline but, and I think more importantly - how easy is it to sit back, take a week or so to recover, knowing your colleagues are in great danger? Your point is logical, but I think St Mary's people would be on fire to get back and rescue them. Interestingly, I've just addressed this point in the latest story - Another Time - Another Place. A couple of historians have disappeared. Obviously the rescuers can't return to the same point in time so they miss them. And keep missing them. With serious consequences. Thanks for your question. I haven't been as taken with a story for ages as I was with Just One Damned Thing .. <3 I started to question my own assumption that this was set in the near future. You mention riots and the "Battersea Barricades" and the US "closing their borders" made me think this was set in a future post-system-collapse world with a deliberately vague date? Am I wrong?
