Well, I'm pretty much still an aspiring writer myself. But given what I've learned over the last year or so, I could offer a few thoughts:
1. Write what you know. I'm sure you've heard this before but it is the best advice. It will give your story authenticity and credibility that only you can bring.
2. Don't give up. If a story isn't working, try some new approaches or directions. Find a friend to talk things through and who can look at your story from a new perspective.
