I have a few questions but they won’t fit here so will ask each separately. My first is about Skeet Douglas. I tried to find info but only found his post conviction ruling. Do you believe he was guilty. Things were way too sketchy to me. The survivor’s story and waiting, etc. As we all know, most cops are good but being set up happens and it seems things were too convenient for someone that seemed very intelligent?

Hi, thank you again for asking. I really can't speak to the innocence or guilt of a person I've never met, with regards to a crime committed over thirty years ago. Even after spending dozens of hours going through transcripts and such, it's hard to get through all the various legal layers and shadings. As you said, it's sketchy. I would put forward that it's hard to see someone as bright and loving as Rob putting so much of his time and spirit proving the innocence of his father if he did not entirely believe in that innocence. Sincerely, Jeff

Hi, I just wanted to say that The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace is one of the best books I have ever read. I was also wondering, how your opinion changed much of Rob since writing this? How does it compare knowing his whole life story vs previous perceptions of him as an old friend and former roommate who seemed to keep much of his internal struggles and history to himself?

I don't know if you read your reviews, but mine relates a story somewhat like Robert's. My question is: Have you heard of many other cases like Robert's after publishing this? Does anyone have any sense of how common it is to be able to live with this kind of background without being drowned by it? Thanks for writing this book.

Found 'Peace' at a bookstore in Berkeley, my alma mater, and could not put it down! I too worked at the univ cafeteria, a poor minority among peers with money and two-parent homes. You capture this, and the deep love of a parent and child who've struggled together, so well. Thank you. My questions: Do you think Rob would be alive if Carl hadn't stolen? Was Jackie aware of this thievery? Has Jackie been able to travel?
