Goodreads asked Avery Maxwell:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Avery Maxwell Just do it! And to keep a timeline handy...something I wish I had known to do when I started writing Cross My Heart. Even if you don't think you'll need it, trust me you will.
Suck it up and pay for the editor, it will be the best money you ever spend as a writer.
Lastly, find a critique partner. Someone you mesh well with and someone you can eventually trust to tell you the truth. A stranger that becomes one of your best friends. I found mine online in one of the many writer groups I joined. *shout out to C.R. Riley* check out her books too, she has been my lifeline during this process.
