Goodreads asked Matthew E. Wheeler:

How do you get inspired to write?

Matthew E. Wheeler It's not so much as being inspired as it is trying to get all the stuff swirling around in my head 24/7 out. I've always had a fantastical imagination. In class as a kid, I would sit and daydream about Russians attacking the school and I'd imagine how I would react. A whole movie would play in my head. Sub Russians for aliens, Cubans, zombies, or dragons, and this was why I didn't learn much in class. I would imagine commercials I could make for products when I was twelve and I still have what I think is a rock-solid idea for Diet Pepsi. I would shoot music videos in my head based on songs I loved. It has never stopped and as I was approaching forty I decided enough was enough. I had to start writing them down.
