Dear Mr. Butcher! I absolutely loved Blood River, as well as the way you narrated it. Is there perhaps an audio version of Chasing the Devil? I can't seem to find it. Listening to it would be so much more of a personal experience, than reading it. Thank you, and please keep up with the extraordinary travels and writing!

Dear Anita – thank you for a such a great message, a lift in this time of Covid. An audiobook of Chasing the Devil was made. I was unavailable for narration so the job went to an actor. It sounded great. The rights may have changed recently as I cannot see it on Amazon/Audible.com or Audibook. Sorry for the disappointment. I have chased up the publisher to see what the situation is and will let you know via the message service on GoodReads. In the meantime, you might consider the audio version of my latest book The Trigger which is available. I narrated the UK-released edition but an American actor did the US-released edition. Cheers again, TimB

Good morning! ? Blood River was an excellent well researched enjoyable book. Having lived in the Congo am a pretty good judge of what is accurate plus you write well --perhaps years working for the Telegraph polished a very readable style. There is a great passage where you are approaching Stanleyville and observe that if the local unreported mass horrors had happened in any other country--they would be etched ?

Where can I get a kindle of Chasing the Devil? Have searched high and low. Assume there is some contractual problems with them. Greene's book on Liberia / Sierra Leone is frankly terrible-- I stopped reading it when he adds a laundry list from social columns in a local paper. It was God awful for numerous reasons...he must have been learning to write as I like some of the later works. Read your Sarajevo book ..
