Goodreads asked Timothy Frojd:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Timothy Frojd 1. Use a notepad (for example OneNote) to keep track of characters and specific events, places, etc.
2. Outline the story, section by section, or chapter by chapter. As long as you know where you are going with the story in each chapter, to reach the goal with your book, then you are on a good course.
3. Write! Don't stop writing! Don't check for spelling mistakes and grammatical errors while you are writing. If you do this, then you may never finish your work. Get yourself an editor to go through your work afterwards. You are the storyteller. The editor is there to make sure that your story works grammatically.
4. Get into the heads of your characters. Figure out what makes them who they are. If you can't do this, then the characters tend to become two-dimensional characters with nothing to them. This goes for all characters, even those that might only take up a paragraph or two. The best way to think of it is: Everyone has a life which is independent of the story. They have a life before ending up in the story, and they will have life once the story is over (unless something bad happens to them in the story).
