Goodreads asked Mary E. Gregory:

How do you get inspired to write?

Mary E. Gregory Until recently, I had quite a hectic work schedule. I would look forward to the weekend morning time, while my husband was still asleep and could write in a quiet house. A fellow writer once told me, "Create before you consume," and this is on my wall in my office right next to my computer. It's a reminder that my creativity should come first. So I sit at my desk and open the programs I need to open that are for writing. The past few years it's been Celtx or GoogleDocs because these are where the screenplay I was co-writing were or where my book had editor notes. I get inspired to work on my creative projects by knowing that they're waiting for me. They're like friends who've invited me to brunch. I share my words and I'm my truest self, and I know that my written words are wonderful ways to bring about emotions and to share experiences.
