The world around me and everyone and everything in it is fodder for the writer. For the fantasy writer, there is the extra challenge - and benefit - of taking those things and tweaking them. When I see a problem in our world, it inspires me to think about ways to deal with it and the heroes I would like to see do so. Those things inspire me to keep going.
